The Rec Spot is a HIGH FIVE® Accredited organization.

HIGH FIVE® Accreditation is the highest recognized level of quality and safety in children’s sport and recreation programs in Canada.

HIGH FIVE® is based on five Principles of Healthy Child Development for quality programs:

  1. A Caring Leader

  2. The Opportunity to Make Friends

  3. The Opportunity to Play

  4. The Opportunity to Master Skills

  5. The Opportunity to Participate

At The Rec Spot, all of our practices, policies, and procedures align with the HIGH FIVE® Principles. Our programming is guided by extensive research into what constitutes quality experiences for children, and the practical application of these Principles in programs. As such, our activities reflect the HIGH FIVE® Design Guidelines by ensuring the program is emotionally and physically safe, developmentally appropriate, and welcoming of diversity and uniqueness, accommodating the individual needs of each child.

All team members complete the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development training course to ensure high quality, developmentally appropriate programming at every level.
